Parametric specialist Descartes Underwriting has announced the hiring of insurance market veteran S\u00e9bastien Bardy to the newly created position of Chief Financial Officer, who joins the organisation from German insurer Allianz.
\n<\/span>
\n\"descartes-underwriting-logo\"In his new role, Bardy will report to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tanguy Touffut and lead Descartes\u2019 financial scale-up with a focus on value creation for stakeholders.<\/p>\n

He will also build on the strong foundations established by the current team in recent years.<\/p>\n

Overall, Bardy brings more than 20 years of industry experience towards his new role.<\/p>\n

As mentioned, Bardy joins Descartes from Allianz, where he held senior positions in France and Germany, most recently as Head of Planning & Controlling for Global Lines, Anglo Markets, Asia Pacific & IT.<\/p>\n

Bardy also previously held roles at Deloitte, Natixis, and PwC in areas including accounting, capital management, and M&A.<\/p>\n

Moreover, Chlo\u00e9 Duval, who joined Descartes as Head of Finance and played a notable role in building a strong team and infrastructure, has been appointed Deputy CFO.<\/p>\n

In this role, she will oversee financial projects and corporate finance, serving as a key partner to Bardy and the broader Finance team.<\/p>\n

With Bardy\u2019s appointment, Violaine Raybaud, Chief Operating Officer, whose scope initially included the Finance department, will also now be able to focus fully on Operations and Descartes Insurance.<\/p>\n

Touffut commented: \u201cI am delighted to welcome S\u00e9bastien to the management team. He will optimize our investment strategies, but also further strengthen our strong financial performance and management capabilities overall. He will be instrumental in the achievement of our long-term objectives.\u201d<\/p>\n

Addressing his appointment, Bardy said: \u201cI am excited to join Descartes as they create a major new, global commercial insurer with a technology-backed approach to underwriting based on the underlying risk. The founders\u2019 vision of a company which takes maximum advantage of new approaches to risk transfer puts me at the vanguard of the future of insurance.\u201d<\/p>\n
